THE COMEBACK: Part 2

First off, I would like to thank everyone for the encouraging words and support over the past 2 weeks. I was hesitant at first to start this blog back up because of how I did last time. There were a lot of posts but I really never took on the challenge of getting healthy. Just a lot of excuses and words like “I promise I will do better next week”.

So when I first started back up on my health journey I did not want to go back to old habits so I first set out the goal to get under 300 lbs before I start posting again. When I first got under 300 lbs I wasn’t satisfied so I wanted another month to see how well I can do again. After that month I was down to 282 lbs. However, I still was not stratified with how I looked so I waited another month. By then it was April and I was really cooking. But still didn’t feel the need to post again. But when May strolled around and I was at 70 lbs lost, I knew that was the eye popping number that was going to revitalize this blog.

And I am still on the grind. I am now making wiser diet and physical health decisions everyday. It is now starting to be second nature to me at this point. For example for Memorial Day, I knew I was going to a BBQ so instead of hoping to starve myself at a BBQ I made sure to eat even healthier the week leading up to it, as well as made sure I did extra workouts and walked more miles. Also at the BBQ, I did not pig out like how I used to, and found myself sticking to my diet. Choosing grilled chicken instead of Ribs, or eating a salad with my meal.

It’s not just events, but even going to the grocery store. My shopping bag has switched in the past 7 months from routinely buying fatty foods like burgers, chips, bacon, ground beef, white bread, sugary cereal and waffles to more healthier foods like salad, fruit, ground turkey, skinless chicken, no fat yogurt, whole grain bread and vegetables. Sometimes I am shocked when I am at the checkout line seeing what I buy now. I am proud that I am truly continuing to change.

The results continue to show as well. I am down from my weigh-in 2 weeks ago. With summer around the corner I just know I have to continue to grind. But best believe I will not be stopping after the summer. I am heading into this like a marathon and NOT LIKE A RACE.
