After the first week of my journey I can say it was a success. I did not do that much but from the results I saw that the little things I did made a huge difference. One thing I did differently was the fact I decided to cut out chips from my diet. Before I would practically hand over my wallet to the vending machine at work but I decided to cut out those calories and save some dollars. Another thing I did differently was only eat Nutrigrain bars for breakfast. Eating a healthy breakfast really allowed me to stay focused throughout the day. I also made sure I drank 9 or more cups of water everyday. Staying properly hydrated is key to having great health. The last big difference I did this week was eat salad and whenever I had dinner I tried to have only one serving of food. Before I would have 2 or 3 servings and I began to realize I would eat until I felt stuffed. That is not good because not only am I over eating but I am also mentally throwing myself off by thinking I need to eat more food than I need in order to feel full.
The only exercise I did was play basketball and that was only for 8 minutes on one day. Afterwards I was gassed and could barely breath. I felt really embarrassed as a year ago could have played a full 40 minute game without needing a substitution. It made me even more motivated to get fit. Finally, I was hyped when I stepped on the scale and saw it said 290.lbs. It really brightened my mood when I saw that. With barely any exercise and slight tweaks to my diet, I lost 8 pounds. Moving forward I plan to make even bigger changes to my diet and habits. Needless to say this was a great first week and I already looking forward to next week.
1/14: 298.2 Lbs
1/21: 290.0 Lbs
Lost: 8.2 Lbs
One thing that helped me when I started on my journey was drinking a lot of water (so kudos to you), cutting out alcohol and most definitely changes to my diet! Congrats on the loss!
I make sure I drink at least 9 cups of water per day.
